The Tournament

Några kända såväl som okända rappare från Atlantas undre hip hop scen får varsin plats i och med projektet The 808 Experience vol 2. Med sitt karaktäristiska ATL sound bjuder producentteamet SMKA på en 21 spår lång skiva där 808 snares med givna utsvävade refränger och fyndiga texter skapar den klassiska Atlanta stämning.

The 808 Experience vol 1 klassades snabbt som kult då den lokala ljudbilden bevarades med plats för nytänk och unika inslag. Plattan fick priset för 2009 års bästa mixtape av magasinet Creative Loafing.

Mixtapet innehåller en hel del guldkorn där låtar som Botanicals av Aleon Craft, den flytande The Make Believer av Tanya Morgan och Street Runner av RE är klara favoriter. Känner du igen samplingen på spåret “Let Me Go” med Brittany Street? Du hör rätt, det är Lykke Li.
